Teen Services awarded a $20,000 Community Grant from Impact100 Sonoma
Becky Jo Peterson was all smiles as she accepted a temporary check from Impact100 Sonoma for $20,000 to support the expansion of the TSS Ready to Work program. Thanks to this generous Community Grant, Teen Services will be able to increase the number of Work Readiness courses offered in the next school year and at two new locations: The Club (Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley) and La Luz Center.
Currently, Work Readiness courses are offered five times each year at three locations: fall and spring courses at both Sonoma Valley and Creekside High Schools and a summer course at Teen Services serving a maximum of 100 students total. Each course is composed of five free workshops (10 hours) that cover essential soft skills including: workplace etiquette and culture; time management and communication; job procurement – resume, references, applications and cover letters, and interviewing; customer service; and money management.
This grant will allow us to provide these skills to a greater number of Sonoma Valley teens.
