Lovin' Oven Work Experience

Each week, Lovin' Oven teens and young adults prepare chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies for sale to several local businesses as well as to the public.

In November, the Lovin' Oven expands its inventory to include fresh-baked holiday pies. Pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies made to order and ready for pick up the day before Thanksgiving.

The Lovin' Oven provides additional menu items including light appetizer, luncheon, and desserts.

Once a week, youth volunteer their time to prepare a hot meal for the homeless clients of Sonoma Overnight Support - taking the opportunity to give back to the community.

A variety of classes are offered to increase culinary skill sets including:

  • Lovin' Oven Culinary Academy (LOCA)
  • ServSafe and Service Etiquette Class
  • Knife Skills

Teens are also given the opportunity to learn about the catering aspect of the hospitality industry including safe food-handling practices, proper service etiquette, guest service experience, teamwork, problem solving, articulate communication, and soft skills (showing up on time, attitude, etc.)

Lovin' Oven has provided service for notable events such as the Sonoma Valley Fund's STARS Volunteer Event, Sonoma Valley Education Foundation's Red and White Ball, Impact100 Sonoma's Awards Celebration, the Best Western Sonoma Valley Inn's Olive Bash, Sonoma Overnight Support's Mother's Day Tea, the Home Winemaker's Banquet, Transcendence Theatre Company's Broadway Under the Stars, and TSS's annual Cowboy Cab fundraiser.
